What's Jacob's Ladder toy? It was wooden toy created for fidgeting children in the Victorian period that consists of blocks of wood that are held together by ribbons that form a ladder. When the ladder is held at one end, the blocks appear to cascade down the ribbons. However, this effect is a visual illusion which is the result of a cleverly hinged action that makes the toy appear to be alive as one block after another one flips over. The added vibrancy of colorful blocks in this version makes it a fun toy for any child. And it's still an excellent gift for ADHD and/or children with autism. Ages 3+
